  • Do not use wax-furniture polish, abrasive or aggressive cleaners, bleach or other hypochlorite (chlorine) based cleaners, multipurpose cleaners, dilutes, acetone, alcohol, solvent or similar products on the door, as this will damage the surface;
  • Additionally wax and polishes leave a residue build up that is difficult to remove.

It must be remembered that solid timber is a natural living product; therefore it is neither possible nor desirable to achieve uniformity of grain or finish within the raw product. Timber will also change colour and mellow over time due to exposure to light.

Cleaning it up

Only use a 5% soap, 95% water (liquid soap) solution when cleaning timber. Please follow the natural grain pattern at all times. It is advisable to use a damp (not wet) cloth to remove fingerprints and marks, followed immediately with a clean and dry soft cloth. It must be remembered that solid timber is a natural living product; therefore it is neither possible nor desirable to achieve uniformity of grain or finish within the raw product. The timber is machined to enhance the products natural grain structure which allows the product to retain its natural characteristics once painted. Please be aware that paint finishes will change colour over time with exposure to light, the rate of which may differ between pieces and therefore is outside our control.

As our painted timber doors are made from natural materials which by their very nature are subject to movement depending on the environmental conditions in which they are being placed. This natural movement may cause shrinkage or hairline cracks in the paint or along the joints of the product. This is considered as part of the features of painted Goods. Under no circumstances should a timber product be fitted into a damp or newly plastered room.

Please allow the product to cure for a minimum of 72hours once installation has been completed before cleaning the product.

PVC/Lacquer coated products are manufactured from the highest quality materials. Your gloss doors will be supplied with a protective film on the front of the product. We advise that the film should only be removed once the installation has been completed as the product will need around 72 hours to fully cure and harden once the film has been removed. This means that the doors will be liable to scratching and other marks. We do not recommend that you clean the doors for at least a few days to prevent any damage to the surface/ finish of the product.

Please be careful not to puncture the PVC/melamine lacquered surface of the product as this will allow moisture ingress and will cause the MDF core to deteriorate.

Cleaning it up

It is advisable to periodically clean both the interior and exterior surfaces of the product where possible using a soft damp cloth paying particular attention to wipe the surface dry at all times. We do not recommend that you use a gloss cleaner on the product as plain water is sufficient for regular cleans. Always use a lint free cloth and use a circular motion to achieve a high gloss buff. We also recommend the use of a clean/dust free Micro-fibre cloth as these are perfect for achieving a high shine with very little effort.

Avoid any agents that contain ammonia, alcohol, bleach or an abrasive. If the surface of the product is exposed to any oil based substance (for example olive oil, butter, margarine or cooking oil), the spillage must be wiped away immediately to prevent staining.

High gloss finishes do sometimes show fingerprints – but these can easily be removed with a soft clean cloth.

Do not expose the product to a temperature in excess of 60 degrees Celsius or 140 degrees Fahrenheit which is approximately the temperature of washing up water.

Our current ranges of doors are manufactured from Deep Router grade MDF which conforms to all British and European standards. The boards have a melamine backing which either match or compliment the PVC or PET material being used on the front of the product. The doors are routered to our specific design specification, glued and the PVC or PET is pressed onto the MDF.

The same manufacturing process is used whether the doors are required in a gloss of matt finish. The only exception being that the gloss products are supplied with a protective film which should not be removed until all installation work has been completed. We do recommend that you allow 7 days for the gloss product to fully cure once the protective film has been removed before cleaning the product.
